New name in the wind for top NMFS job

Ever heard of Elliott Norse?

He's president and founder of a Bellevue, Wash., nonprofit called the Marine Conservation Biology Institute.

He's also the latest somebody I've heard the Obama administration is considering for administrator of the National Marine Fisheries Service.

As Deckboss readers know, the Obama camp seems to be having a heck of a time filling the position, which Bush appointee and Alaskan Jim Balsiger continues to anchor.

Elliot Norse has the needed scientific expertise, direct associations with global marine scientists, and has led a multitude of qualified staff, from around the world, to set a new precedence of effective measures, to begin the rebuilding, and enhancing the marine waters off Alaska's coasts...The Pacific Ocean and Bering Sea should always be analyzed by experts that understand those waters as a whole, as opposed to boundaries drawn by invisible lines...Those oceans are really, one entity, right up to the shorelines and estuaries, and should always be addressed as such....Something our past administrations have failed to do...Why is that?....Greed....

Elliott would be a fantastic choice for this position. He's brilliant, insightful, and knows more about what needs to happen in the NMFS system than probably anyone going. Where do we nominate him??

Balsiger is not a Bush appointee. He is in acting status as a career (SES) employee.

Anyone Obama appoints can't be worth a damn and is sure to be a communist.

The short Definition of Communism: a form of socialism that abolishes private ownership.

Well, now DRAGGER!...Seems to me, you are getting more than your share already!....

The shorter definition of communism: Obama.
Also, I think DRAGGING should be OUTLAWED.
